Mille et une traces (One thousand and one tracks)
Erik and Anne Lapied
FRANCE, 2013
52’
The passionate search for mountain animals is embedded in the spirit of Anne and Erik Lapied. After more than a thousand days spent between Parc de la Vanoise and Gran Paradiso National Park, the two nature filmmakers became experts, willing to narrate some of their most extraordinary observations.
Whomever, from dawn till dusk, shares their quarters with golden eagle, bearded vulture, fox or ibex, is bound to encounter a day of luck. The sequences are exceptional, including those depicting the stalking of wolves uninterruptedly for three hours, or the spell of four days in the company of mountain hare, or the mad pursuit of chamois on cliffs.
In the second part of the film the moving images of ‘Survivre’ show the adaptation of animals to the harsh mountain climate, abundant snow and storms.
