Gran Paradiso Film Festival

From July 23 to 28, 2018 in Cogne and August in the Grand-Paradis valleys

From 15th  to 17th  July 2016, as part of the events of the Festival "Torino e le Alpi", the twentieth edition of the Gran Paradiso Film Festival will be officially launched through an event that will guide to rediscover the spirit of place and the spirit of age of three locations of the Gran Paradiso.  Each one with its own history, its own soul and its idea of development, searching for the essence of these territories through experiences of meeting with these communities, territorially related but different from one another.

The Festival "Torino e le Alpi" will allow to open a window on different scenarios of Gran Paradiso, involving the two sides - Aosta Valley and Piedmont - of the National Park, to emphasize the mountain ability to unite and not to divide, and to introduce and excite  the public through the encounter with some personalities, the discovery of the savoir-faire and the artistic expressions of three Alpine valleys of the Gran Paradiso.

Three experiences, characterized by a common format but with ad hoc initiatives designed to the specific peculiarities of each area, will be proposed and told through their protagonists, undisputed witnesses of a relationship between man and mountain which, over time, helped shaping the character of the place and its inhabitants.

In the municipalities of Rhêmes-Notre-Dame (15th  July), Aymavilles (16th July) and Ceresole Reale (17th  July), historic locations of the Gran Paradiso Film Festival, the following experiences will  be proposed:

    • the meeting with a person who embodies the spirit of the place and of age of that specific location, enhancing the sense of belonging and  local roots as a distinguishing factor and an added value;

    • the discovery of a local artistic expression: a concert, a reading from the Alpine literature, a theatrical performance, an experiential journey to find out contemporary art installations in natural scenic contexts to encourage new methods of use and  value "spaces" of non-traditional  access to culture;

    • the discovery of an expression of savoir-faire: a visit to a local entrepreneurial success or a craftsman careful to preserve a  consolidated knowledge combined with innovation,  and conclude with a taste of local products;

    • a  special screening of the Gran Paradiso Film Festival, interpreter of the genius loci and genius saeculi of the Gran Paradiso National Park.
