The festival will be held in Cogne, in the Gran Paradiso municipalities and online, from 27 July to 1 August 2026 (full details will be published on the website www.gpff.it).

Entry is free and open to anyone who has produced a feature film or short film after 1st January 2023 – in the latter case, a documentary, fiction film or animated film with a maximum duration of 20 minutes – on the theme of nature.

Each director may submit up to two works – as long as they have never been selected in previous editions – and compete for various prizes. The prizes are the following:

In addition to the technical jury – composed of image professionals, animal filmmakers and authoritative personalities from the worlds of science, culture and nature – that will award the “Best Short Film for the technical jury” Award, the “Best Screenplay” Award, the “Best Photography” Award and the “Scientific Insight” Award, the audience jury will vote on the competing titles. In fact, it will be the spectators who will award the “Stambecco d’Oro”, by participating in the free screenings and casting their vote. The “Stambecco d’Oro Junior” will instead be awarded by the youngest audience, while the GPFF Online Award will be conferred by the online jury, who will be able to watch the films via a streaming platform and vote from their own device. The Gran Paradiso Film Festival thus confirms itself as an international event, open to all and increasingly digital-oriented.

The Gran Paradiso Film Festival will be held from 28 July to 10 August, with simultaneous screenings in Cogne, Introd and Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, and then covering all the municipalities of Gran Paradiso. The full and detailed programme will be announced at a press conference to be held on Monday 7 July at 11:00 a.m. in the Maria Ida Viglino room of the Regional Palace in Aosta, and will be streamed on the website www.gpff.it.

As usual, Fondation Grand Paradis welcomes applications from those interested in serving on the public jury. This year, jurors will be able to attend screenings in Cogne, Introd and Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, awarding the main prize in the International Competition – the Stambecco d’Oro, the Stambecco d’Oro Junior, the CortoNatura Award and the GPFF Online Award.

Those interested can choose which Audience Jury to enter: GPFF GOLD Jury, GPFF Jury, CortoNatura Jury, Online Jury.

Those who will be part of the GPFF GOLD Jury will have to view and vote for all 10 feature films in competition, while those enrolled in the GPFF Jury can also view and vote for just one of the films in competition. For both juries there is also a Junior category, for children and young people aged 6 to 14, which will decide the winner of the Stambecco d’Oro Junior.

The CortoNatura Jury will instead be called upon to attend the marathon of short films scheduled for the afternoon of 31 July and express their preference there.

Finally, the jurors of the GPFF Online section will be able to vote for the films viewable on the Festival’s streaming platform from 3 to 8 August and decide the winner.

GOLD jurors will receive a gift kit dedicated to them at the 28 July meeting in Cogne and Rhêmes-Notre-Dame. The first 20 registered participants will also receive the 28th GPFF Montura T-shirt. Other prizes will be awarded by drawing lots among the members of the Jury.

For the GOLD Jury, the main prize drawn will be a stay for two people in Namur, with access to the Festival International Nature Namur – a festival twinned with the Gran Paradiso Film Festival – to be held from 11 to 19 October 2025, provided by the organisers of the Belgian Festival.

The Foundation also announced the prizes for the winners. The first place winner will win a three-night stay in Cogne for two people with lunch at the Belvedere Restaurant in Gimillan, an aperitif at the Hotel Bellevue, the photographic book ‘The King – The Ibex in the Gran Paradiso National Park’, an 18-litre backpack and an Alpine Convention card. For second and third places – and for one lucky person drawn at random among all the participants – photography and mountain publications, Montura T-shirts of the Gran Paradiso Film Festival, Salewa thermal mountain water bottles and many other prizes are up for grabs. The theme of the competition, ‘Minimal – Minimalism in nature photography’, aims to emphasise the power of a single photographic gesture: a detail, a colour, a shape, a cut of light, which in its simplicity evokes all the power of nature.

The jury that will select the winning shots is composed of the photographers Enzo Massa Micon, Paolo Rey and Giorgio Marcoaldi, the journalist Davide Jaccod and the President and Director of Fondation Grand Paradis, Corrado Jordan and Luisa Vuillermoz.

The best images in the competition, with the name of their author, will be featured in the communication material of the 28th Gran Paradiso Film Festival and will be the protagonists of an exhibition in the area. Also during the Festival, in the summer of 2025, the three winners will be announced and prizes awarded.

On this very occasion, the 28th call for entries was launched in advance to the public of enthusiasts and professionals. Preparations are already underway for the next edition, scheduled from 28 July to 2 August 2025 in Cogne and in the following weeks in Gran Paradiso and on the web (all details will be published on the website www.gpff.it). Per molti di loro si tratta del primo “4.000 m” raggiunto, culmine di un percorso di formazione iniziato a metà giugno, nel quale i partecipanti, ragazze e ragazzi valdostani di 17 e 18 anni, hanno affrontato prove fisiche, hanno esplorato tecniche di alpinismo, hanno imparato a effettuare riprese video e a raccontarsi, hanno migliorato il loro Inglese e hanno conosciuto il patrimonio naturale del Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso.

Dopo essersi allenati salendo prima la Punta Rossa della Grivola (3.630 m) nella valle di Cogne, e successivamente la Becca Traversière (3.337 m) nella valle di Rhêmes, i partecipanti – accompagnati dalle guide dell’Unione Valdostana Guide di Alta Montagna e da un insegnante madrelingua inglese di English Centre Aosta – sono arrivati in Valsavarenche nel pomeriggio di domenica. Da lì hanno raggiunto il Rifugio Chabod, dove hanno pernottato, per partire la mattina seguente verso i 4.061 m della vetta.

Fabienne Aguettaz, Leon Barailler, Nyna Carlon, Matias Colajanni, Margot Comune, Maxime Desaymonet, Noella Gabriele, Richard Hugonin, Alice Maniezzo, Pietro Percino e Rémy Sedran hanno così raggiunto la Madonnina nella prima mattina di lunedì, dopo una sveglia alle 3.30 e una rapidissima preparazione. Il gruppo, velocissimo ed entusiasta, ha salito la via normale dal Rifugio Chabod partendo durante la notte, godendosi l’alba sul ghiacciaio di Levaciau e incontrando il sole sullo spartiacque tra Cogne e Valsavarenche. Salite le roccette terminali, le diverse cordate sono arrivate insieme alla Madonnina. Il gruppo, molto omogeneo e coeso, ha dimostrato fin da subito un grande senso della montagna e una sconfinata passione, che hanno contagiato ed emozionato le guide salite con loro sul Gran Paradiso: Giovanna Mongilardi, Marco Farina e Marco Camandona, e quelle che li hanno accompagnati sulle altre due cime, Abele Blanc e Etienne Janin, confermando il successo di una spettacolare prima edizione di questa nuova avventura, nel vero spirito del “fare cordata”.

“Congratulazioni ai giovani Adventurer di Giroparchi Adventure Trail, alle guide alpine che li hanno accompagnati e a Fondation Grand Paradis che ha gestito il progetto portando questi ragazzi a scoprire alcune vette del Gran Paradiso e i valori della montagna” – ha commentato Jean-Pierre Guichardaz, Assessore ai Beni e Attività culturali, Sistema educativo e Politiche per le relazioni Intergenerazionali – “ Come assessorato, abbiamo creduto molto sin dall’inizio in questa iniziativa che favorisce l’aggregazione, la comunicazione e la socializzazione della conoscenza tra i giovani e la condivisione della pratica della montagna a contatto con la natura”.

Gli adventurers racconteranno il loro emozionante percorso durante la cerimonia di apertura della 26^a edizione del Gran Paradiso Film Festival, lunedì 24 luglio a Cogne presso la Maison de la Grivola. I ragazzi saranno protagonisti anche come autori di quattro brevi video che veicoleranno un messaggio di sostenibilità ambientale che sta loro a cuore.
