A f<\/span>ull house<\/span> at the<\/span> Maison de La Grivola<\/span>, in Cogne, watched with curiosity and attention <\/span>the opening ceremony of the 24th edition of the Gran Paradiso Film Festival<\/span>, which was<\/span> live streamed in two nearby local venues<\/span> and on the web<\/span>.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, attended by Festival <\/span>partners <\/span>and several<\/span> high-ranking <\/span>regional officials<\/span>, the theme of this year\u2019s edition <\/span>– “Building from memory” –<\/span> was unveiled alongside the extensive <\/span>programme of events that will take place in the municipalities of Gran Paradiso<\/span>area<\/span> from 28 July to<\/span> 13 August.<\/p>\n

The <\/span>ceremony<\/span> was <\/span>presented<\/span> by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Luisa Vuillermoz, and <\/span>by the<\/span> quick-witted comedian, <\/span>Dario Vergassola, who entertained the public and the authorities with his <\/span>signature<\/span> dry humour<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Festival partners underlined<\/span> the importance of the event for the Gran Paradiso area, and drew attention to the<\/span> growing <\/span>environmental sustainability awareness among the wider public. Vergassola commented<\/span>: \u201cThe Festival is all about <\/span>quality<\/span>: the official selection includes outstanding<\/span> documentaries. Never before has <\/span>the <\/span>need for nature<\/span>, as well as the importance of protecting the planet, been so strongly felt<\/span>. The Festival is clearly dear to its audience, and <\/span>partners <\/span>and <\/span>stakeholders are <\/span>justly <\/span>proud of it<\/span>“.<\/span><\/p>\n

Registration <\/span>to join<\/span> the <\/span>Festival<\/span> jury<\/span> is still open.<\/span> In a clear sign of <\/span>significant growth <\/span>from past editions, <\/span>375 entries <\/span>have been registered to date<\/span>.<\/p>\n
